Play Ball, Lessons Learned on the Diamond This is a book that is not about baseball only, but also about life and how you persist and endure in the face of adversity or setbacks. This personal story of the writer's journey through baseball is a metaphor for traversing through one's life. Overcoming obstacles like injuries, rejections, disappointments...And never relinquishing your dreams and your passion for improvement and accomplishment. The references and testimonials within the story only serve to enhance the reality of Tim's life experiences both in baseball and his personal life and career choices. We all make choices that determine the course of our lives. Tim chose to attend college when major league baseball was also an option. This charted the rest of his life's journey. Decisions we make each day affect our future. People we meet can influence and change our lives. We sometimes underestimate such impact. Tim refers to lessons learned on the diamond, but these are also lessons learned in living your life the right way. To think of this book as one only for baseball fans would be understating it. A writer's purpose should be to enable the reader to place himself as the main character and imagine himself in that role. Tim Boese has done an outstanding job in accomplishing that, and has produced a work of passion and commitment to always putting in the hard work necessary for success in any endeavor. A GREAT BOOK FOR YOURSELF, OR A GIFT TO SOMEONE WHO IS STRUGGLING TO FIND HIS/HER WAY IN LIFE! I ENTHUSIASTICALLY RECOMMEND "PLAY BALL" AS YOUR NEXT BOOK TO BUY AND READ. THE DONATION COMPONENT IS ALSO A COMPELLING INCENTIVE TO PERSONALLY HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN CHILDREN WHO ARE IN NEED AND SPECIAL CARE. Read more

And so it began I was part of Tims' earliest baseball adventures in the Lake bluff LL where our dads co-coached us. I've arrived back in Tims' life in the extra innings portion of our baseball lives. Tigers Fantasy camp sealed our baseball relationship. Tims journey , gathering other teammates along the way, was a refreshing look at the symmetry sports brings into our everyday lives. Tims memory of details 50+ years ago speaks to the impact these interactions had on his life. Play Ball reminds us that our memories are the windows to our past, and often, our future as well. Well done Tim. Add published author to this Renaissance mans' resume. Read more
Play Ball I could not put this book down once I started reading it. The author's experiences with baseball from his early life to later in life is in itself a great read. In addition, the book brought back many fond memories for me of my personal experiences from little league through senior softball. I sent a copy to several friends I played baseball and softball with over the years. One responded it was a great read that allowed him to relive his love of the game. Anyone who has experienced little league baseball as a part of their early life, softball later in life plus all their baseball experiences in between I believe will love this book. I did. Read more
