Overview
After 20 years as a Singer/Songwriter/Musician/Performer & Producer including 10 Years of Touring and Recording as an original, founding member of AMERICA my wife and I decided we wanted to explore the possibilities of living on an Island in the Caribbean. We ended up living on the island of Grand Cayman for almost 25 years. "Our Day In The Sun" is like a cross between "A Year in Provence" & "Don't Stop the Carnival"
Description
After getting many requests for a sequel to my book, "An American Band, the America Story" I rolled up my sleeves and started writing "Our Day In The Sun". To the thousands of AMERICA fans wanting to hear more stories of my time in Hollywood this new offering sports a Prologue of several seminal events concerning AMERICA which help explain why my wife Catherine and I wanted a complete change of scenery. Both Catherine and I were born within the sound of the sea, had lived in Malibu in the secluded area of Trancas. Though our walls were covered by 21 Gold and Platinum Albums and a Grammy and I was nominated for a Grammy for my first solo effort, "All Things Are Possible" I again fell into the trap of endless touring. Eventually I was set to sign a Recording Contract with RCA in Nashville, I balked at the deal realizing I would be once again living La Vida Psycho. So, I politely said "No Thanks" to the Record Deal and Catherine and I embarked on a life-long dream and adventure of living in the British West Indies, right on the snow white beach with the turqouise blue "Gin Clear" water just a few dozen steps from our back door.
About the author
Dan Peek was one of six children whose Family moved every 2 years or so to such exotic locales as Pakistan, Greenland, Japan and several Stateside postings before their Father a Colonel in the Air Force got orders to relocate to London, England. The move to London was pivitol in that Dan met and played music with the Band that would soon choose the name AMERICA. Their meteoric rise took them to unimaginable heights after the release of their signature first album and the release of their mega-hit single, "Horse With No Name". The charts were buzzing with hit after hit such as "Ventura Highway", "I Need You", "Lonely People" and "Sister Golden Hair", "Today's The Day" and "Don't Cross the River", later recorded by Garth Brooks. London is also where Dan met and courted his High School Sweetheart and the couple recently celebrated their 38th Anniversary.
