Mr. Burns received a B. of Arch. from the University of Kentucky, and a Master of Science in Interior Design from UNCG. Herb has over 39 years' experience in higher education. at Forsyth Technical Community College. He has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching and leadership in education and technology. As an educator, he has created and taught over a dozen new courses relating to architecture, animation and digital design, and is recognized as an pioneer and innovator in this field. He is a licensed architect. His knowledge and skills are also known internationally as a guest lecturer on digital design, architecture, sustainability, and best business practices in Finland, Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. Mr. Burns was also a Fulbright Scholar. He is a founding collaborator of the Center for Design Innovation, Piedmont Triad Design Consortium, founding collaborator of Design Leadershop, and past president of ABRO Winston-Salem.
Mr. Burns has served as Interim Dean of Engineering at Forsyth Technical Community College, also as the Department Chair for Design Technologies, including programs of study in Architecture, Interior Design, Radio & Television, and Digital Effects & Animation. He was the Program Coordinator for the DEA Program, and he served as the Coordinator of International Partnerships at Forsyth Technical Community College.
