Marjorie de Muynck, M. Mus., MSOM, Hon
November 25, 1952 – January 25, 2011
Marjorie de Muynck is a pioneer of four influential musical compositions in the key of Ohm™: There's No Place Like Ohm Volumes 1 & 2 (Lemniscate Music, 2002 & 2005), In the Key of Earth, and Vibrational Healing Music (Sounds True, 2007, 2009).
An eclectic mix of experience as a musician and composer, healing arts practitioner and educator, combined with a scientific understanding of sound and vibration, led de Muynck to create Ohm Therapeutics™ sound healing, a comprehensive Vibrational healing system which combines the application of Ohm Tuning Forks, Crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, and music in the healing frequency of Ohm.
In 2008, de Muynck’s textbook was published: Sound Healing: Vibrational Healing with Ohm Tuning Forks, a practical application manual with DVD. Earlier, in 1995, de Muynck co-founded the Kairo's Institute of Sound Healing, and co-developed the Acutonics® sound healing system and co-authored the textbook, There's No Place Like Ohm: Sound Healing, Oriental Medicine and the Cosmic Mysteries. In addition, she co-developed a healing treatment called Harmonic Attunement® which incorporates the use of cosmically tuned symphonic gongs, tuning forks, didgeridoos, rattles, Tibetan bowls and bells.
Marjorie de Muynck also studied Huichol Shamanism with Brant Secunda and was very interested in the indigenous use of sound for healing. A graduate of the ISIS School of Massage in 1983, de Muynck was a part of an early movement of professionals who helped to create certification standards for Massage Practitioners. A prodigious student, practitioner and instructor of alternative healing modalities, de Muynck attended and graduated from the Seattle Shiatsu Institute (1983-1986) and studied Oriental Medicine for over twenty five years. She taught Shiatsu, Hara Diagnosis, Kundalini Yoga, Reiki and Sound Healing at the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine for six years. In 1983, de Muynck started an On-Site Shiatsu business for King County and the City of Seattle, which she owned and operated for seventeen years.
During this period, de Muynck was a performing musician. In 1987, she was a founding member of the Billy Tipton Memorial Saxophone Quartet and composed the musical score for the film Crocodile Tears.
A Master of Music in Music Education (Boston University 2007), de Muynck was awarded a posthumous honorary degree as a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, NM in 2011.
