Despite her owner's request for euthanasia, the horrified veterinarian pleads with Sherry to adopt her. Sherry brings Mollie to her home, but is shocked by her behavior. Mollie hides and cowers in fear of them. Over time, they discover that Mollie has been badly abused, which has caused her fear of humans. Ellen wondered if Mollie would ever recover. However, with much patience and understanding, she became a beloved family member who was deeply cherished until her passing. Ellen Gilman is the author of Mollie's Tail- To Mollie With Love (based on Ellen and her family's experience with their first rescued Sheltie, and of The Best Doggone Bakery ( a fun romp featuring the Gilman family's Shelties, in a fictionalized adventure)
