Michael Cohen's poetry portrays frames of mind, emotions, and experiences; breathes characteristic color into life's moments; and captures rhythm, moods, and often whispers from his subconscious. "Melodies" is Michael Cohen's second collection of poetry following "Lyrics," his first poetry collection. "Melodies" contains expressions of hope, recovery, and love in Michael's distinct modernist approach. The artist adopts tonality, visual expression, and musical rhythm as he paints frames of mind, moods, and experience with emotional color.
About the author
Michael Paul Austern Cohen is an accomplished oil painter and poet from the Monterey Peninsula. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Virginia Tech with concentrated course work in mathematics, art, history, art history, and philosophy. Michael completed non-certificate graduate course work at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C., with a concentration in drawing and painting. He also holds a graduate juris doctorate degree, magna cum laude, from Washington & Lee University. He has served in various faculty appointments at universities in Asia, Europe, and North America.
