Mediation War Stories - The Underbelly of Litigation

The author mediated more than 1,300 lawsuits during the twenty years that he served as a full-time attorney-mediator. More than 85% of the disputes that he mediated resulted in voluntary settlements. This book generally contains semi-fictional descriptions of the factual background of actual mediations that he personally mediated. The results of those mediations ran the full gamut from mutually satisfactory resolution to total confrontational meltdowns. The names of the participants are fictional but not the facts. The descriptions of the mediator's tactics, ploys and negotiating strategies are factual.

Jerome Levy recently retired after twenty years as a full-time attorney-mediator. Previously during his career as a practicing lawyer he had handled more than a thousand law suits. As a mediator, he served as a third-party neutral in 1,300 disputes, and in the aggregate he facilitated settlements in excess of $500 million. He authored during his legal career a series of books on the subject of alternative dispute resolution, and served as an Adjunct Professor at Southern Methodist University.
