Experience an emotionally driven memoir of childhood trauma, mother loss, and healing.
At nine years of age, as her parents approach divorce, Connie must choose in court which parent she wants to live with--her frightening, abusive father or her loving but physically and emotionally exhausted mother. She chooses her mother, who has spent six years resisting divorce and trying to keep her four children. But her mother cannot go on and turns Connie and her siblings over to their father. Devastated, Connie tries to be perfect--a "good girl"--in order to survive and earn love from her father.
It takes a marital crisis years later, after nursing school, marrying a physician, and raising three children, for her to realize perfection is an impossible goal, an illusion. Thus begins a long journey toward healing her childhood wounds and claiming her innate power, creativity, and ability to help others to heal. Connie reconnects with the mother she fearfully rejected almost twenty years earlier and slowly awakens to aspects of herself she has long denied. She becomes a Jungian-oriented psychotherapist and energy healer and moves from Princeton, N.J. to Bozeman, Montana in 1995, where, along with many adventures and misadventures over the next thirty years, she devotes much of her life to guiding others on a transformational path toward wholeness. She leads Gathering the Soul in the Wilderness women's dreamwork and horseback riding retreats for many years, the last one in August 2019 on her 80th birthday.
