About the author
I am a retired educator who grew up being entertained by family stories. As the years passed the details of the stories seemed to mesh less with history. As a historian (B.A. Occidental College) I began to delve into the veracity of these family legends. I found some were based in fact but many had discrepancies in time and place with different information from different sources. Upon retirement (I am still a part-time professor at Cal State LA) I began to research and accumulate these stories.
