Overview
This work is historical fiction. It starts with an ancient Pre-Columbian civilization in Central Florida that possesses a ceremonial artifact that can communicate with the dead in a place called the Night Land. Through an act of treachery, the artifact is broken, and its three sections hidden in three different locations; Cumberland Island, Georgia; British Honduras; and Central Florida. The story then shifts to the early 1920's and an amateur archaeologist named Nat Corbyn and his daughter, Boots. Together they search for the three hidden parts of the artifact and, along the way, stumble onto an ancient curse that sends Boots to the afterlife: The Night Land. The story then shifts between the two different places as Boots slips in and out of consciousness- back and forth from the Night Land to the present day (1928). Boots finds that the Night Land is cursed and that only she can save it. The story culminates with a wild ending- a vicious hurricane and the collision of the two worlds.
