About the author

Eugene Ditaranto, Jr., is a 23-year veteran of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY). He currently holds the rank of Fire Deputy Chief and is assigned to Division 13, Queens South Command. Chief Ditaranto has written several FDNY procedures during his career; ranging from air rescue firefighting to building inspection programs – including algorithms used for inspection productivity. He is considered a subject matter expert regarding the New York City Fire Code. Chief Ditaranto has a bachelor's degree in community and human services from Empire State College and graduated from the FDNY Officers Management Institute administered by Columbia University. He lives on Long Island with his wife and two children. This is his first book about the FDNY.
