Jan's Excellent Romance

"Jan's Excellent Romance: Applesauce and Andy" is about Jan Duffy, a woman nearing 30 whose husband ran off with the neighbor’s wife (leaving Jan with car payments and no car – and no husband). When she opens a café, she finds herself getting involved in the love lives of her customers, friends, and family while struggling to get her own life in order, to forgive her runaway husband, and (maybe, maybe, maybe) to be able to fall in love again. Along the way, she finds romance, passion, and laughs.

Hi, I’m Jan Duffy. When I was 26, my husband ran off with the woman next door, leaving me with car payments and no car. No husband either, obviously. First customer in the door was Andy Hudson, a successful lawyer and hands down the best looking guy on Long Island. Lucky me, right? Not really. I have a God-given talent for taking a good thing and really messing it up. I’m good at fixing up other people’s lives, though—at least I always thought so. But I had not yet met the parade of zanies that started coming to the café. The lovelorn, the ditzes, the screw-ups—and I mean not just my customers but my friends and my own relatives. Lindsay Hall was born in Ohio and has lived in Switzerland, New York City, the Hudson Valley, New Jersey, Boston, and Long Island, New York. Her “checkered career” has included stints as a New York City public school teacher, a cigarette girl at the Copacabana, a textbook editor, and a deputy to the Governor of New York. Ms. Hall and her husband currently live in Virginia, but they met, married, and lived for a number of years on Long Island, the setting for all of her romance novels so far.
