Description
"It Must Be Him" tells the story of Louie Wexler, a whiz kid comedy writer from the heyday of variety television who is now out of luck and out of new ideas. With his devoted agent and considerably less devoted housekeeper by his side, Louie finds himself broke, lonely and on the wrong side of middle age. Desperate to rekindle his fading career, save his Beverly Hills home, and find the man of his dreams, Louie searches high and low for one last shot at his own real life happy ending. "It Must Be Him" premiered in New York City at the fabled Playwrights Horizons and enjoyed an eight week run at Edgemar Center For The Arts in Santa Monica. "In Kenny Solms' hilarious play, "It Must Be Him," the solution is simple: take a one time whiz kid comedy writer, throw in a sassy housemaid, add show tunes, men in leather shorts, and stir gently." - LOS ANGELES TIMES
About the author
If variety is the spice of life, Kenny Solms has tasted great success. Beginning with the co-creation of the now legendary Emmy award winning "Carol Burnett Show," he wrote and produced numerous specials, including those for Julie Andrews, Ann-Margret, Danny Thomas, The Osmonds, Mary Tyler Moore, Bing Crosby, Second City, Lily Tomlin, Dick Van Dyke, Anne Bancroft, Joan Rivers, Bill Cosby, and Kelsey Grammer. "Sills and Burnett at the Met" won him the Peabody Award; "Burnett Discovers Domingo," the Montreaux Prize and he also wrote and produced the Emmy Award-winning Neil Diamond special, "Hello Again." Television, however, has never been Solms' sole domain. "Lorelei," starring Carol Channing, lured Kenny back to Broadway to write the new book for the Jule Styne / Comden & Green musical based on "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes." During "Lorelei's" two-year Broadway run, he collaborated with Gail Parent on the screenplay for her novel "Sheila Levine is Dead and Living in New York." Solms also conceived and wrote, "Perfectly Frank," a Frank Loesser revue, "What the World Needs Now," featuring the songs of Burt Bacharach and Hal David, and "Ain't That a Kick in the Head," based on the songs of Sammy Cahn. "It Must Be Him" premiered in New York City at the fabled Playwrights Horizons and enjoyed an eight week run at Edgemar Center For The Arts in Santa Monica.
