Two children are hurled into a post technology world resulting from their hunt for three missing stones in an ancient Scottish stone circle

Description

In this compelling time-slip novel. a girl and a boy from the twentieth century are carried through the Circle of Time to the year 2179. There they are caught up in the courageous struggle of a peace-loving people trying to protect their simple and humane way of life from the assaults of a barbaric mechanized society who would conquer and enslave them. Through rich layers of time and meaning, Anderson has woven an intriguing tale in which the present becomes the past and the future is now.

About the author

Margaret Anderson was born and educated in Scotland. She has a B.Sc. (honors) degree in genetics from Edinburgh University. After working as a statistician and biologist in England, Canada, and the United States, she took up writing science and nature articles for children’s magazines. Her first book was nonfiction, Exploring the Insect World, and then she turned to writing historical and time-slip fiction. To Nowhere and Back published in 1975, was selected by the NY Times Book Review for their Outstanding Books of the Year list. This was followed by In the Keep of Time. She went on to write ten novels, published by Knopf, and then completed the circle by going back to nonfiction writing, inclluding biographies of Charles Darwin and Isaac Newton. Because she gets emails from fans who read her early novels when they were young and would now like to have their children read them, she is venturing into the e-book world to make some of these titles available again. In the Keep of Time is already available as an e-book. The Mists of Time will be ready soon, completing the Time trilogy.
