Images of Distinction VOL II - 2025

The American Society of Photographers (ASP) is proud to present Volume II of the Best of the Best Image Collection, a continuation of our effort to showcase the finest work created by ASP members. This collection highlights the outstanding images selected from the 2025 Images of Distinction competition (IOD), a program designed to inspire our members to continually refine and elevate their creative vision beyond the requirements of photographic degrees. Since its inception in 2021, the IOD competition has grown quickly into one of ASP's signature events. In 2024, the format expanded to two rounds. Round One began with one day devoted to competition, followed by another day of in-depth commentary. Round Two included both new submissions to be judged and sealed entries from Round One. Building on that successful structure, the 2025 competition continued to challenge our makers and encourage innovation and artistry at the highest level. ASP proudly awards Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medallions to the top images in IOD, along with District Medallions for the strongest work from each of ASP's five membership districts. As in Volume One, this collection includes all ASP medallion winners, as well as State Elite winners—images that achieved the highest scores among ASP member entries in state competitions. Our juror panels remain one of the greatest strengths of the competition. Each year, esteemed judges devote their time and expertise not only to the evaluation of entries, but also to offering invaluable commentary that helps participants grow as artists. Their generosity of spirit and commitment to the craft elevate the IOD experience for all involved. The IOD committee—the largest within ASP—continues to carry forward this work with dedication, creativity, and passion for the advancement of image competition and education. Their efforts ensure that the Images of Distinction competition remains both a celebration of achievement and a source of inspiration. With this second volume, ASP reaffirms its commitment to recognizing excellence in photographic art. We look forward to seeing the competition and this collection continue to evolve, reflecting the ever-expanding possibilities of our medium.
