The American Society of Photographers (ASP) is delighted to present this inaugural edition of the Best of the Best Image Collection showcasing the finest images created by ASP members in 2024. These images were judged as most meritorious in the Images of Distinction (IOD) Competition.
Held first in 2021, IOD has become a major event for ASP. This year it was split into two rounds–round one included a day of adjudication followed by a day of commentary. Round two was held later in the year and was comprised of both new entries and sealed entries from round one.
The American Society of Photographers awards medallions in Bronze, Silver and Gold to the top images overall. There are also District Medallions awarded to the top images from each of the five geographical ASP districts. State Elite winning images–those images that scored highest among ASP members in each state competition–are also included in this collection.
This competition would not be possible without the support of amazing jurors from around the country who worked tirelessly, sometimes for multiple days, to provide helpful commentary and guidance for our makers. Images of Distinction is planned and executed by the IOD Committee and we acknowledge their hard work, innovative ideas and dedication to image competition. We hope that IOD will continue to grow and a premier image competition as we expand the program to encompass new and exciting areas of photography.
