"I'm Too Full!" Review from Readers Favorite Contest: Barbara Mis Kelly's I'm Too Full! is a delightful tale that captures the everyday adventures of a lovely little girl whose name begins with the letter D. Illustrated adorably by Nelly Rodriguez, the story opens with D navigating her days filled with various activities. Whether she's playing the piano, painting, or engaging with her toys, her energy seems boundless. However, when it's time for meals and snacks, D repeatedly exclaims, "Oh no, I'm too full." Despite her protests, she always finds room for the delicious dishes her mommy prepares, from chicken and vegetables to pasta, fruit, and cheese. This endearing pattern shows the universal childhood habit of initially resisting food, only to eventually enjoy it, before eagerly returning to play. The repetitive structure of D's objections and delight in eating mirrors the playful and sometimes challenging dynamics of mealtime in many households. Parents and fans of children's literature will find I'm Too Full! an enchanting addition to their reading list. The story's relatability resonates with families everywhere, capturing the familiar dance of children’s mealtime resistance and ultimate enjoyment. Nelly Rodriguez's charming illustrations bring D's world to life, making each page a visual treat for young readers. The playful illustrations help to engage children, drawing them into D's busy, cheerful world. This story not only entertains but also subtly encourages healthy eating habits and the joy of diverse activities. The variety of foods depicted—from hearty meals to nutritious snacks—can inspire children to try new foods and appreciate the care that goes into their preparation. I'm Too Full! is perfect for bedtime stories or daytime reading, offering both parents and children a heartwarming, fun-filled experience that mirrors their own household dynamics. Barbara Mis Kelly's lighthearted approach to a common family scenario makes it a joy to read aloud, inviting giggles and nods of recognition from young listeners. Its simple yet engaging narrative, coupled with beautiful illustrations, ensures that I'm Too Full! will become a cherished favorite, reinforcing the bonds of family mealtimes and shared stories.
