Description

One day, a mysterious individual by the name of Michael approaches acquisitions editor Frank De Gennaro about publishing an authentic biography of Jesus, passed down over the millennia, one guardian at a time. The biography, "Sepher Yehoshua, the Book of Joshua," contradicts much of what is printed in the canonical Gospels. Compiled by Jesus' first and closest student, Zechariah, "Sepher Yehoshua" follows Jesus from his first presentation of his Good News till his execution on the cross. Due to false stories circulating during his life, Jesus wanted his true story to survive intact. He thus charged Zechariah to construct an accurate account based on his firsthand observations, and to have it passed along in such a way that it would never be compromised by scribal errors or sectarian intrusions. Though fully skeptical about the whole story, Frank agrees to acquire and then encourage publication of Zechariah's memoir of his teacher. Frank quickly discovers that all those who encounter "Sepher Yehoshua," and become involved in its transmission and publication, find themselves transformed. The preservation of the biography becomes the lynchpin for the survival of a world beset by vast fires, horrific floods, disappearing lakes and rivers, world-wide pestilence and looming war. Only through the love of God and each other—a love only made possible through forgiveness—can the world avoid the ultimate cataclysm. "Guardians of the Book" offers readers a spiritual journey experienced through fantasy and hope for a world in turmoil.
