Our mission is for Latina/o/x youth to know that in the 21st century, they can walk into any library, bookstore, shop and classroom and find an empowering bilingual book like Grandes Dreamers, seeing themselves proudly represented in the areas of sports, journalism, science, aviation, activism, politics, airspace, arts, and literature. Featuring the bright and vivid art of Anna Alvarado, this is a book that captures the eyes, hearts and souls of youth and adults alike looking for another source of encouragement and inspiration.

Too, we see how these bold women accepted with pride, pain, dignity and resilience, the adversity and challenges faced along the way by Latinos: the first minority in the States. These powerful and heartfelt stories will not only impact and empower young girls and boys from all walks of life, but they will also touch and enlighten the lives of women across the world who will surely identify, relate and feel proud of the personal achievements and professional contributions made by these extraordinary women in the areas of sports, journalism, science, aviation, activism, politics, airspace, arts, and literature. Grandes Dreamers was written in both English and Spanish as a way of honoring and preserving our mother tongue. We strongly believe that this bilingual book will give our youth of today the opportunity to maintain their linguistic richness and strengthen the cultural bond with parents and grandparents, forging a positive and rich image of the Latinx community. Argelia Atilano is the leading female voice of El Show de Omar y Argelia for K-LOVE 107.5 FM in Los Angeles, California. In her twenty years as part of the Univision Television and Univision Radio family, she embodies a solidified career of industry achievements. A Chicago native that was raised between East Los Angeles in California and Jalisco, México, Argelia has a double major degree in Communication Studies and Spanish Language Literature from Loyola Marymount University. The Mexican American TV personality and radio broadcaster has been recognized for her work with 5 Golden Mike Awards, an Emmy Award, and nominations for radio industry pinnacles such as the Marconi Radio Awards. Argelia is actively involved with charities like the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, St. Jude's Research Center, Girls Today Women Tomorrow, Step Up, Proyecto Pastoral, and The Argelia Atilano Scholarship Foundation that continues to provide college scholarships to deserving Latina high school graduates. Argelia, along with her husband, Omar, are authors of their first book Amor Al Aire (Love's in the Air) which provides an insight into their own challenge of balancing a marriage, a family and a radio show. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Omar, their daughters, Camila and Anabella, and their dogs, Oreo and Cookie.
