About The Author


Jeremy McEwen was born in Trenton, Tennessee in 1977. After graduation from Peabody High School, he spent several years studying music and recording at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. He received his B.A. in 2000, then worked in the Nashville music business as a songwriter and musician. In 2007, he moved home to rural western Tennessee and devoted his time to writing songs and poetry. In 2015, his acoustic-blues song, "Mississippi Free" reached #1 on the Acoustic Blues Song Charts. The following year, his album, "Folk & Children's Songs" peaked at #8 on the Contemporary Folk Album Charts, and was a nominee for the Independent Music Association's Children's Album of the Year. McEwen's poem, "Old Men Play Checkers" was published in Tennessee Magazine in 2017. In 2018, he received his M.A. in Creative Writing with a concentration in Poetry. He currently lives on a small farm in Dyer, Tennessee, with his wife, Jennifer, and their two children, Connor and Emma.
