Hi! I’m MGA, your guide throughout our journey to and “From the Dark Room”. Steve thinks he’s in charge. But I keep him on the straight and narrow as we craft each chapter. We start, each time, with a sketch that comes to life. We tell stories about life and death, heaven and hell, and everything in between. We paint portraits of characters who will astound you, make you laugh or make you cry. Come with me…and Steve…as we visit these memorable worlds that defy convention – a mosaic that blends fable, Theater of the Absurd, and reflective memoir.

Description
OK, it’s me, MGA, again. Now I’m going to give you a bit more detail about our book. As I said earlier, you can join us in a world of imaginative fables, reflective parables and memoir-tinged sketches that explore life, death, choice and what it means to be human. You will meet George a tenor in a chemo ward, who sings a liberation song to Steve. You will be moved by an elderly woman who tries to drag a rather large steamer trunk with her into her grave, not realizing that she is already dead. You will witness a Mekanic, a Grotesque who is also a wondrous purveyor of the technical arts, crying out to be transformed into a Normal in a post-apocalyptic world. You will observe robins and lions confronting you with their significant life messages and urging you to perceive the truth. You will eavesdrop upon five tiny women who are all embedded in a small, rather primitive, art quilt panel, and you will marvel with them at their maker’s skill and engagement in her work as you listen to their quiet thoughtful conversation. You will follow our search for Gaia to answer a question, “Is that all there is?” And then you will watch a duel to the death to bring about a life transformation. There are many more chapters and they will all appeal to anyone who likes stories that linger, who appreciate irony and sorrow in equal measure, and who seek narratives that encourage empathy, stewardship and a deeper listening to the living world. So, please join us.
