Description

Enter a world of imaginative fables, reflective parables and memoir-tinged sketches that explore life, death, choice and what it means to be human. As readers step into the mystical Dark Room, a young guide draws you into a journey that defies convention. Accompanied by a unique cast of inner advisors, vivid stories are framed as encounters that move from quiet memory to surreal moral test. The pieces shift between intimate moments and mythic allegory. Small grace notes and personal remembrances sit beside imaginative parables: a friendship formed in an infusion ward that teaches courage and acceptance; portraits of rage and attachment that show how anger or possession can imprison; a traveler who must choose between oblivion and restitution; and a guardian entrusted with a luminous book of knowledge who learns that empathy and humility must temper power. Throughout the stories the larger question is woven: will humanity be undone by its heedlessness, or can it enter a transformation that integrates human and planetary intelligence? The narrative voice of the chorus invites the reader into a meta-conversation about storytelling, authorship and inner counsel. The result is a mosaic that blends fable, theater of the absurd and reflective memoir. This collection will appeal to anyone who enjoys morally imaginative fiction that provokes thought without dictating answers. Perfect for those who like stories that linger, who appreciate irony and sorrow in equal measure, and who seek narratives that encourage empathy, stewardship and a deeper listening to the living world.

About The Author

Steve Brazen, a native of Seattle, began his journey through life ensconced in the rigor of Catholic institutions—attending parochial school and spending several years in the seminary. Eventually, his path shifted, leading him toward the embrace of wider experiences and a career in nonprofit management. In the 80s, Steve refined his writing skills as a frequent contributor to "Pastoral Life," a now defunct spirituality journal. "From the Dark Room" is Steve's first novel, a blend of fables, morality plays, and memorials. Steve and Lynn, his wife of 53 years, currently reside in Massachusetts.
