Description
This book is intended to assist law enforcement officers or military veterans transition from a career in the public sector to a successful new career in the private sector, specifically as a leader in the corporate security environment. The book is written by two lifelong law enforcement officers with over 60 years of experience who have made this transition. The book offers their insight and advice to transitioning patriots about what to do before, during and after the career transition. In addition to the insight of these two authors, the authors created an extensive survey which was distributed to 100 of the nation's most impressive senior leaders in the corporate security arena. The book details the survey responses and provides to the reader advice from these experts about moving from a government employer to a private entity.
About the author
Kevin Rice has spent his entire adult life as a protector. First as a police officer in Orlando, Florida followed by a 25-year career in federal law enforcement. For the majority of that time, Kevin was a special agent with the United States Secret Service. During those two and a half decades he was able to play a role in protecting presidents, vice presidents, cabinet secretaries, foreign heads of state and dozens of others. Working for a dual mission agency, Kevin also conducted hundreds of complex criminal investigations and also investigated serious threats against our nation's leaders. In the middle of Kevin's career, he was detailed by the Secret Service for three years to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center to train the next generation of federal agents. In addition, Kevin graduated from the Department of Defense Polygraph Institute and spent a handful of years as a Secret Service polygraph examiner where he conducted hundreds of criminal and protective intelligence polygraph examinations. Kevin was ultimately promoted to a series of managerial positions in the USSS and ultimately left the Secret Service as the Special Agent in Charge for all Secret Service operations in the states of Arizona and New Mexico. Kevin was hired away from the Secret Service to assume a senior management position in another federal agency where he oversaw federal uniformed police officers and criminal investigators in a four-state region in the intermountain West. As Kevin reached retirement age, he experienced firsthand the act of transitioning from a life in the public sector to the corporate world. He wrote this book to assist other transitioning public sector employees and hopefully ease their move to the corporate security world. Kevin is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, Troy State University and Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command. Kevin and his wife reside in North Carolina where Kevin currently works in the private sector as a Director of Asset Protection and Investigations for a company doing business in 94 countries.
