About the author

Author CRAIG LAWRENCE CPP, CAS is the Chief Instructor for United Risk International’s Training Division. Over the past 20 years, Mr. Lawrence has worked as a law enforcement firearms instructor, private detective, and criminal defense investigator. United Risk’s Training Division has conducted seminars throughout the Chicago metro area on self-defense law, civilian concealed carry and provided firearms training to law enforcement, military and private security contractor personnel. Mr. Lawrence is a Licensed Private Detective, Certified Anti-Terrorism Specialist (CAS), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), NRA Certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor, as well as an Illinois State Certified Firearms Instructor (ILDFPR) and Illinois State Police Certified Concealed Carry Instructor.

Co-author DAVID MIERSWA, J.D. was raised in Wisconsin where he learned the value of “hard Midwest work ethics.” He has earned several degrees, including a Bachelor of Business Administration, Master’s in Business Administration and a Law Degree from Thomas Cooley Law School. After earning his degrees, David went on to start his own firm, The Law Offices of David P. Mierswa and Associates. In addition to his role as the Principal of his law firm, Mr. Mierswa teaches classes and seminars on legal issues related to gun ownership, concealed carry and asset planning and protection. Mr. Mierswa is an NRA Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor certified in Pistol, Shotgun, Patrol Rifle and Tactical Shooting.
