Description

Echoes of Elvis, with 244 pages including over 100 brilliant color photos (most by Elmar Keijzer/ETA Photos), tells the compelling story of why so many performers – some of whom were born more than 20 years after Elvis died – devote their lives to paying tribute to the King, and why fans, from lifelong Elvis enthusiasts to new converts, are drawn to them. Based on over 100 in-person interviews with Elvis Tribute Artists, fans, and other professionals in the Elvis/ETA world, it tells the story of what it really takes to be an Elvis Tribute Artist (in their own words), and captures the emotional connections between ETAs and their audiences. The book shares stories of fans who rediscover the magic of an Elvis performance when watching these ETAs, and performers who pour their hearts into recreating that magic for them. With its rich storytelling and vibrant imagery, Echoes of Elvis is a must-read for Elvis fans, music lovers, and anyone curious about the enduring power of a cultural icon. The book not only celebrates the artistry of ETAs but also invites readers to discover the vibrant community helping to keep Elvis's legacy alive – one performance at a time.

About The Author

Lili Rodriguez is a cultural anthropologist who conducts consumer research for a living and attends Elvis Tribute Artist concerts and festivals for fun. She splits her time between the Big Island of Hawaii, where she lives on a 75 acre farm with her two life partners and a menagerie of feathered and furry creatures, and Las Vegas, her fortress of solitude, where she wrote this book.

Marian Keijzer Steennis is an avid Elvis fan who discovered the ETA world in 2011 and has been involved in the ETA world ever since. She divides her time between the Netherlands and her second home in Inverness, Florida. She is married to talented photographer Elmar, who is responsible for (most of) the photos in this book.

Elmar Keijzer has been a photographer most of his life. He is the man behind “ETA-Photos”. As Marian always says, “marriage is give and take”. She gave him Elvis, he takes pictures.
