Description
You will be reading just reality here. Fiction is not my bag and some of the happenings you may not believe, and they may be embellished or possibly untrue, but it wasn't on purpose. I just didn't remember exactly perhaps, but that shouldn't make any difference, and maybe you wouldn't know anyway.
If you like x-rated stuff, bad language, and things of that nature, sorry, you won't find it here. Possibly I'm a prude in today's society, but that's what I've chosen, and most of the people I know respect that. Believe me, I'm no goody-goody, and I've done things, like everyone else, that I wasn't too proud of, but I can't see writing all about it.
This will include travel and adventure in most of the world, including nearly everywhere in Europe, all of Central America, the majority of South America, North America, Asia, and Africa. Not to be left out, most of the South Pacific, New Zealand and Australia. If I forgot somewhere, it was unintentional, and I've been to many of these places multiple times. I feel that I've been everywhere in the world that I've thought I wanted to go to, or that I've ever heard was somewhere not to be missed.
I've lived in the Midwest, California, Florida, Arkansas, Paris and Hawaii and earned a couple of college degrees. You'll read about my military experiences as well as hiking through Patagonia, going on several safaris in Africa and India, skiing some of the most famous places in Europe and elsewhere, swimming with piranhas and sharks (including whale sharks), going to the top of every one of the tallest buildings ever built, rubbing elbows with famous movie stars and athletes (kissing the most famous female sex symbol at the time), and even catching a world record fish.
I left Iowa for California when I was 17 and rode a bus for two days and two nights to get there. After college and the army, I worked in Southern California and quit before I turned fifty. We moved to a house on Kauai that we already owned, and after two more houses, I've lived here with my wife of 64 years, Pauline, for 35 years to date. All three of our kids are grown and have families and college degrees.
In the first chapter I'm going to tell you about one of our most exciting trips (that was in 1991). It included going into the depths of Khufu, Egypt's largest tomb, to visit the sarcophagus of Ramses II.
Pauline was with me as we next went on sixteen African safaris and everywhere else in the world. The experiences we had in the few weeks we spent in Egypt and other parts of Africa would be enough for most people for a lifetime.
