Overview

Baking with the Planet in Mind is a dual-purpose cookbook. Readers will enjoy ten favorite Desserts by Claudia recipes while broadening their thinking about our communities and how our choices impact our environment. Baking is a great hobby for adults and kids alike that brings about valuable family time while teaching many practical skills and lessons. Claudia walks families through her journey from age three, learning to bake, until today, four years into owning a home-based bakery. During her years selling desserts to restaurants and the Pittsburgh film industry, she witnessed a big problem: food waste. Her book details how and why food waste is a massive problem related to food security and greenhouse gas emissions. She then delves into ways we can all be more mindful of our impact on our environment through conscientious baking practices. This book encourages whole-family interaction and brings awareness to ways young people can get involved in their communities to help others and the planet.
