About the author

Joseph was born in Southern Pines, NC in the early 1960s. He joined the U.S. Air Force shortly after graduating from high school. He served on active duty for 22 years, before retiring. Fourteen of those years were spent recruiting young people to fill air force manpower needs. Immediately after retiring from the Air Force, he started his second career in education as an AFJROTC teacher and then an assistant principal. Joseph has a BA degree in Human Resources and a Master's degree in School Administration. He also has taken several graduate courses in counseling. Throughout his time as a recruiter and as an educator he has had the honor of conversing with young, and not so young, people about their concerns, issues, career plans, and the like. Joseph has been married to a beautiful lady for 35 years and they have two grown children. This book is a partial culmination of those concerns young people have shared with him over the years, his raising two children with his wife, and an attempt to give back to society.

Description

Some of the topics that are discussed by Uncle Joe and his "nieces" and "nephews" are friendship, sex, dating, reading, preschool, marriage, infidelity, love... Uncle Joe has a rapport with his nieces and nephews that makes them feel comfortable talking to him. They know he'll be honest and tell them what he believes to be true. He won't pass judgment and will share a personal story that shows his own humanity. This book is not meant to be a fix-all, but to at least be a conversation starter for those who need it. The author believes that we all need occasional, proper "conversation" in our lives to maintain good mental and emotional health.
