Fairings were prizes won at local fairs during the 1800s in the US and Europe. With over 1300 images, this book also touches on other items made by Conta & Boehme in Poessneck, Germany. Some of those items include inkwells, pocket watch holders, pin cushions, cigar holders, match holders and more. The author shares many observations, along with tips for correctly identifying matches between the lid and base of a trinket box. Also included are details for each item and a few interesting finds in her personal collection that has spanned over thirty years.
About the author
Renae is a long-time collector of the Victorian era, Conta & Boehme, porcelain fairing trinket box. Her collection started over thirty years ago and has grown to over 1000 boxes, including many rare pieces. Though her main focus is the trinket box, other items produced by Conta & Boehme have made their way into the collection, such as inkwells, pocket watch holders, and more. Through her book, with over 1300 images, her wish is to share personal observations, some interesting finds, and her collection. Born in Minnesota, Renae has spent her life there. Together with her husband, they have raised a family of three children. When not focused on the fairings, she spends many hours quilting, researching family ancestry, traveling, and enjoying time spent with her ten grandchildren.
