Communicating Science is an introductory communication guide that provides students with a foundation for writing, reviewing, and presenting scientific information. Topics include grammar, presenting scientific information, learning theory, research methodology, preparing scientific documents for scientific and public audiences, editing, and peer review. The appendices present review questions, technology guides, assignments, and assessment rubrics.
Communicating Science may be used as the textbook in a science communication course, as a resource for the writing and presentation components of science courses, as a resource for students engaged in undergraduate research or career prep courses, and as a reference throughout one’s career. Communicating Science is designed so that students can smoothly transition to more specialized style guides as they proceed to graduate school and to scientific careers.
