Each year's competition has a unique theme. The 2024 theme was The Time Traveler- Imagine you are a time traveler who has journeyed back to a specific era or decade in time or forward to your imagination's view of a future time. Code a self-portrait that reflects the essence and spirit of that time. Each coded self-portrait is accompanied by the coder's photo and a short statement, providing additional meaning and reflection. The coded portraits in this book were the top submissions from across the entire United States.

Code/Art is on a mission to increase the number of girls in computer science by delighting and inspiring them with the creative possibilities of computer programming. We strive to put young women, particularly young women from historically underrepresented groups, on track for future tech careers by providing welcoming early coding programs that focus on art, creativity and social good.
