The competition, open to girls in grades 3-12 in the United States, is easy enough for first time coders – for many contestants, CodeYourSelf™ was their first time writing a computer program – while still being engaging enough to challenge more experienced coders.

Each year's competition has a unique theme. The 2023 theme was My Super Self! - whether it's a special talent, personality trait or something they love about themselves, we asked Code/Artists to code a self-portrait that shows off their awesomeness! Each coded self-portrait is accompanied by the coder's photo and a short statement, providing additional meaning and reflection. The coded portraits in this book were the top submissions from across the entire United States.
