Caroline and the Cooking Fairy

Harlene Goodrich lives in Seal Beach, California with her husband, Michael. She is the mother of two children and the grandmother of seven. After teaching elementary school for fourteen years she returned to the University of Southern California where she received her Master’s Degree in Professional Writing. While at USC she studied with the late Jerome Lawrence (Inherit the Wind, Auntie Mame) and received three One-Act productions at the university. Her most recent full-length play, A Gold Star in the Window, was the 2010 winner of the Ashland New Play Festival where it received two readings. Her play, Light Under the Door, won Colleague’s Theatre Company’s full-length play competition in NY with a staged reading at the Neighborhood Playhouse. She was one of four winners in the Long Beach Playhouse New Works Play Competition. Her short play, Picture Perfect, produced by Love Creek Productions in NY, was published in 2006 by Samuel French, Inc. in the Thirtieth Series of Off-off Broadway Festival Plays. Her play, Gene Tierney’s Hat, was also produced by Love Creek Productions in NY and was the winner of the West Coast Ten-Minute Play Festival in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Other short plays have been produced in festivals in California, Delaware, Iowa, and Virginia. Goodrich has published poetry in - Wee Wisdom, and Blue Unicorn. She is a member of the Dramatist’s Guild, Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights (ALAP), and Playwrights Voice Ensemble (PVE). She sits on the Board of Directors for Interval House, a shelter for victims of domestic violence, where she volunteers her writing skills in a variety of creative endeavors including a video for teens on the subject of dating violence
