Humankind has spread throughout the stars, but has still learned precious little about how to live together. Caught in the middle is a young recruit, one of the crew of a tank destroyer, a machine designed to hunt the battlefield's most lethal armored monstrosities. As she faces murderous enemies, inscrutable technology and the psychological toll of war, it's all an ordinary soldier can do just to survive.
