Overview

In today's world of participation trophies and endless screen time, raising kids with grit, confidence, and character has never been more important — or more challenging. Built for Greatness: A Parent's Guide to Raising Strong, Resilient Kids is your playbook for teaching faith, discipline, and life skills that prepare children to thrive both on and off the field. Written by Coach Morgan — a father of four, youth sports coach, and co-founder of the Jr Jags — this book blends real-life parenting experiences with lessons from the locker room and the playing field. Each chapter delivers practical tools, motivational stories, and simple strategies parents can use right away to help kids ages 4–12 build resilience, sportsmanship, humility, and confidence. More than a parenting guide, Built for Greatness is a movement. It's about proving, not just preaching. It's about showing kids how to work hard, handle failure, lead with kindness, and grow into champions — not only in sports, but in life. Whether you're a parent, coach, or mentor, this book will inspire you to raise children who are strong in character, grounded in faith, and ready to face the challenges of tomorrow.

Description

We live in a culture that hands out participation trophies, glorifies shortcuts, and often confuses comfort with success. But real life doesn't work that way — and neither should parenting. Our kids need resilience, grit, discipline, and faith to thrive in a world that won't hand them everything. Built for Greatness: A Parent's Guide to Raising Strong, Resilient Kids is the blueprint for families who want more for their children than just "getting by." Written by Coach Jeffrey C. Morgan — husband, father of four, youth sports coach, entrepreneur, and co-founder of the Jr Jags youth program — this book blends the lessons of parenting, coaching, and faith into twelve powerful principles that every child needs. Drawing from more than 20 years in health, wellness, and sports performance — and thousands of hours coaching on fields and courts — Coach Morgan shares a refreshingly real approach to parenting. Inside, you'll find: Practical strategies for teaching kids discipline, confidence, and resilience without crushing their spirit. Stories from the field and the home that reveal how small, daily lessons build lifelong character. Faith-driven principles that anchor kids in humility, respect, and leadership. Action steps and tools you can use immediately to help your kids reduce screen time, handle failure, and grow stronger mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Unlike many parenting books that preach theories, Built for Greatness is rooted in real experience — from raising four kids under the age of ten to coaching hundreds of young athletes. Each chapter begins with a motivational quote and ends with a Bible verse, connecting timeless wisdom with today's parenting challenges. This book isn't just about raising good kids. It's about raising champions — kids who know how to work hard, push through setbacks, show kindness, and lead with character. Champions who understand that greatness isn't given, it's built. Whether you're a parent who wants to strengthen your family culture, a coach who wants to lead better, or a mentor looking for tools to inspire the next generation, Built for Greatness will encourage, challenge, and equip you. Because the truth is simple: Champions aren't born. They're built. And it starts at home.

About The Author

Jeffrey C. Morgan — known to many as Coach Morgan — is a husband, father of four, youth sports coach, entrepreneur, and author dedicated to helping parents raise strong, resilient kids in today's world of participation trophies and quick fixes. With more than 20 years in the health and wellness industry, Coach Morgan has worked with athletes at every level, from youth sports to the pros. He began his career as the head strength and conditioning coach at Saint Joseph's University and worked with professional athletes including the Philadelphia 76ers before shifting his focus to what he believes is his greatest calling: helping parents and kids build character, confidence, and grit through everyday life lessons and sports. As one of the co-founders of the Jr Jags, a nonprofit youth sports organization that has grown to serve over 200 kids in just two years, Coach Morgan brings his passion for teaching sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork into real communities. He knows firsthand that sports are more than games—they're classrooms for life, where kids learn how to win and lose with grace, handle adversity, and grow into leaders. Morgan is also the creator of the Built for Greatness brand, a movement designed to equip families with practical tools, mindset training, and faith-driven principles to raise champions—kids who are strong in character, not just in talent. His work spans across multiple platforms, including: Children's Books: Author of the award-winning Bungo the Funky Monkey series (Adventures in Kindness, Jungle Olympics, Learns Manners, and the upcoming The Gift of Giving). These stories teach kids foundational values such as kindness, teamwork, and resilience in fun, relatable ways. Parenting Guides: Author of Built for Greatness: A Parent's Guide to Raising Strong, Resilient Kids, which combines real-life parenting experiences with lessons from the locker room and the field. Mindset Tools: Creator of motivational flashcard decks for kids and athletes that reinforce weekly lessons on character, discipline, and mental toughness. Health & Wellness Leadership: Founder of First Step Health & Wellness, a coaching and wellness company serving patients across 35 states with nutrition programs, weight-loss support, and holistic health tools. What makes Coach Morgan's work stand out is that his lessons aren't theory — they're lived. As a father of four young children (all under the age of 10), he and his wife are in the trenches of parenting every single day. He writes from the perspective of someone who has spent thousands of hours coaching kids on the field while also raising them at home. His stories, strategies, and principles reflect both the victories and the struggles of real parenting. Coach Morgan credits his values to the examples set by his father and grandfather, who taught him the importance of hard work, humility, and treating people with respect. These lessons became the foundation of his personal and professional mission: to help families everywhere raise kids who are not only confident and disciplined but also compassionate, humble, and ready to lead. Through books, programs, and community leadership, Coach Morgan's message remains simple and powerful: Champions aren't born. They're built.
