Bronx Snpshots

By Iris Goldstein-Fodor

Overview

Bronx Snapshots is a collection of poems and essays drawn from Goldstein-Fodor's memories of growing up in a working-class, progressive Jewish family in the East Bronx from 1935 to 1956. These pieces illuminate neighborhood life and culture, antisemitism, family experiences during the war years, and the postwar era, culminating in her undergraduate years at City College of New York during the McCarthy era. In a moving epilogue, she returns with her children and grandchildren to a much-changed neighborhood to celebrate her 90th birthday.
