Breastplate: A Novel of St. Patrick kept me in awe from the first scene to the last. I enjoyed learning about Christianity's early history and Saint Patrick's role in bringing Christianity to Ireland. I appreciated Donna Lee Davis's immense research when writing this remarkable, captivating, and atmospheric novel. In particular, the excerpts from the Nicene Creed made Saint Patrick and his quest feel relatable to me, a curious and open-minded Anglican. Every scene and event felt realistic, and the contrast between alternating happiness and disaster, and loyalty and betrayal, made the story unforgettable. But most of all, I was impressed by God's deliverance during the Druid ceremony of burning huts. All in all, I enjoyed every moment of reading this wonderful book and highly recommend it to everyone interested in the history of Christianity.
