By Jerry Dixon

Overview

Last year Billy, a young boy living on a Texas farm, learned how seasons really happen when he made friends with a leaf mite and his family. Jacob, the leaf mite, is the size of a dandelion petal and him and his family along with color neechs and wind sprites, turn summer into fall. As the color neechs paint the vibrant colors, the leaf mites remove the leaves while the wind sprites control the breeze that move the leaves around. Billy is anxiously waiting for summer to end and his friend to return. As the north winds roll across the farm, a new adventure is waiting for Billy and Jacob. Come meet the creatures that are responsible for bringing fall to the Panhandle of Texas as Billy and Jacob renew their friendship!

Description

Billy Rush and the Leaf Mite Adventures" is about a boy named Billy, who lives with his family on a farm in the Panhandle of north Texas. His favorite time of year is slowly approaching, and he can hardly wait to finally see his little friend Jacob again. Jacob, the leaf mite, is as small as the size of a dandelion petal. Autumn begins when the color neechs change the green summer leaves into vibrant autumn colors. Leaf mites help bring on winter by chewing the leaf stems off the trees and riding the leaves slowly down to the ground, guided by the breeze created by the wind sprites. Once all the leaves are gone, winter is soon to arrive. Billy has been anxiously waiting for autumn to arrive so he can once again see his little friend. Now that it is finally here, school must come first. After school, Billy finds Jacob in the tree beside the barn and they spend the late afternoon remembering old times. As evening progresses into night, a storm approaches. By morning, the sudden storm turns the late autumn upside down. A trouble making wind sprite drops Jacob on a frozen pond and Billy comes to his rescue. Grandpa mite wants the wind sprites tricks to stop and makes plans to visit the king of the wind sprites.

About The Author

Jerry Dixon was raised in a country home north of Amarillo, Texas. Growing up, he often explored the hills and dirt roads looking for arrowheads, old railroad spikes, and horned toad lizards. His curiosity and imagination led him to an interest in creating stories. Though he never committed to writing a full book, Jerry kept track of his ideas in notebooks intending to finish them another time. After high school, Jerry joined the Army, entered the field of electronics, and was stationed on a base in Arizona. While serving he met his wife Teri, and together they raised 5 kids and now have 11 grandkids. After moving back to Amarillo with Teri, they had a successful career as business owners until they retired. Over the years, the desire to write grew, and with the encouragement of his wife, "another time" has finally come. Jerry's debut book, "Billy Rush and the Leaf Mite Adventures." is the first published of his collection.
