James Crawford is a retired Ohio University administrator and professor. His interest in writing fiction originated in creating children's bedtime stories with an focus upon dinosaurs to satisfy the demands of his grandchildren. Jake Reid, the lead character in Betrayal at the Carlisle, is a composite of the "good guys" Crawford imagined who could take on the toughest adversaries without becoming just another shooter first and planner later. James lives in Canfield, Ohio, near two of his four children and four of his grandchildren. When not writing he travels, volunteers, and enjoys Jazz, theatre, and art.
