About The Author

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Orin Kennedy, also known as Daniel Fuchs, was educated at Forest Hills High School in Queens, NYC, before attending the University of Miami in 1959. As a freshman, majoring in drama, he garnered a lead role in the Ring Theater's production of Lysistrata. Returning to NYC the following year, he met someone who helped change the course of his life by encouraging him to pursue a career in interior design. He enrolled in the New York School of Interior Design and graduated three years later, in 1963. He then received a summer scholarship at the Fontainebleau School of Music and Fine Arts. Back in Manhattan, Daniel took a position with the famed interior designer Dorothy Draper. He was assigned as design coordinator for the Westinghouse Dream Home at the 1964 World's Fair and also coordinated design projects for Dorothy Draper Enterprises at the Waldorf Astoria (NYC), Naples Community Hospital (Florida), Palmer House (Chicago), Barclay Hotel (Philadelphia), and the Inverurie Hotel (Bermuda). He also pursued acting classes in the evening with Lee Strasberg and Sanford Meisner. In 1968, Daniel resigned from his five-year position in interior design with Draper and auditioned for the national company of "The Lion in Winter," starring Walter Slezak. He made his stage debut in the role of Geoffrey on the night of the Detroit riots. Forty states later, Daniel met someone at the Fire Island Pines who changed the trajectory of his life. He returned to his design roots and joined Michael De Santis, Inc. A year later, circumstances changed, and Daniel moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. Daniel, now known as Daniel Landis, went on to become a member of Cincinnati's distinguished Playhouse in the Park repertory ensemble from 1969 to 1970, appearing in several productions, and later served as a private drama teacher. Upon reading an article in a local paper, forty students of all ages eagerly registered for his scene study classes. In 1971, Daniel decided to travel west to Los Angeles, CA, where, as Orin Kennedy, he began his TV location manager career at Charles Fries Productions (1976-1981), followed by 22 years with major production companies, including Steven Bochco and David E. Kelley Productions. Orin is a founding member of the Location Managers' Guild International and currently holds the position of Chairman Emeritus.
