Behold My Journey

By Orin Kennedy

Overview

A Special Dedication to Deborah Goldstein for being a devoted sister/friend from the moment we met 30+ years ago.

This memoir traces Orin Kennedy's multifaceted career and personal life. Also known as Daniel Fuchs and Daniel Landis, he was born in Brooklyn, NY. His early life led from drama studies at the University of Miami to a swift pivot to interior design in New York City. After graduating from the New York School of Interior Design and working under famed Dorothy Draper, Kennedy coordinated high-profile projects, including the Westinghouse Dream Home at the 1964 World's Fair and several landmark hotels. Alongside his design career, Kennedy pursued acting, studying under renowned teachers and making his stage debut in The Lion in Winter. He went on to significant theater roles and taught drama in Cincinnati, Ohio. He later moved to Los Angeles, where he shifted into television as a location manager for major production companies. Kennedy grew up in 1950s and 60s America, at a time when the simple act of going to a gay bar was still a crime. Despite the challenges he faced coming out in pre-Stonewall America, Orin persevered and stayed true to himself.
