Overview

For our species to continue we must become a multi planet civilization. This is the story of how we could accomplish such a weighty journey. After traveling through deep space for five generations, a starship enters a foreign solar system with thousands of souls in tow and hopes of a new start on solid ground. They have three viable planets as targets, and the youngest generation has trained their whole lives to brave the unknowns of whichever surface suits their needs best. These early landers have different, but very specific skill sets. Their storylines converge when landing parties are formed to accomplish several different missions. All anyone on board knows of life outside the ship has been learned from information stored on the ship's computers. Will it be a welcoming Eden, or an uphill battle against alien nature? After being a spacefaring people for so long no one is sure exactly what Becoming Terrestrial will entail.

About the author
Reed Rothe was born to young parents in the late 1970's. His whole family knew he was a creative child even before he won a school writing contest in the second grade. The story was about a boy who turned into an Ankylosaurus after eating a magic apple, but it went very deep for a seven-year-old. Being a cerebral child of small stature made the want of acceptance from his peers hard fought, so he read a lot. It was Blume in elementary school, King in middle school, and Crichton in high school and into adulthood. After the latter passed away in 2008 Reed shifted to an eclectic blend of nonfiction, and two years later he decided to try his hand at becoming a serious writer himself. Becoming Terrestrial is the end product of writing in the spare time he cobbled together while trying to make a living in the service industry.
