Multidisciplinary artist, photographer, and author Joshua Renfroe presents his sophomore photography book BEAU, The Black Male Mystique. This 285-page visual study and contemporary archive is guided by historical reflection and personal memory as it explores the unique essence of Black male aesthetics and beauty. Douglass Morris, the great-great-great-grandson of Frederick Douglass and great-great-grandson of Booker T. Washington, writes a heartfelt foreword The book features words by Curtis Taylor Jr. and was designed by Fred Sands IV. BEAU is a mirror held up to Black men, not to define what beauty should look like, but to reveal the beauty that has always existed.
