About the author

Jay Mikes brings to light a wealth of experience in Basketball FundaMENTALs. As a former high school and college player, as well as a coach and personal trainer, Jay learned early on that there is more to success in basketball than physical prowess—the mental skills of the game must be developed too. Basketball FundaMENTALs is loaded with mental training drills that will help both coaches and players master the “inner game” of basketball. Jay is now a retired teacher and coach but still takes time to train young athletes. A true student of the game, he has also written extensively about statistics systems in basketball. In fact, Jay introduced analytics into the NBA back in 1986-87 when his company, Strategic Statistics provided video tape/computer analysis for the Phoenix Suns. In addition to Basketball FundaMENTALs, Jay published his first novel in 2000 entitled, Uncle Tom’s Clinic. In 2009, Jay produced a two-hour video on the early history of Schaumburg Township (Illinois) entitled Schaumberg Roots. For more information on Jay Mikes, visit his website at http://www.jam23.net.
