Overview
"Autocide:" the auto industry as it could have been... The year is 2020 and Detective Ben Rengale has a problem. OK, several problems. There's a murder at the second biggest automaker in the world and he's been sent there to investigate. Ben dislikes large corporations and is suspicious when it comes to their survival of the 50s and 60s. A follower of conspiracies, and sometimes prone to being obnoxious, Ben can be quite offensive and finds a way to joke during the most inappropriate times and situations. Furthermore, Ben thinks someone may be following him, and to investigate this murder he must visit someone he'd rather kill than see. Actual historical characters and events blend in with models of cars that were and could have been. Expect the unexpected as this murder-mystery complicates with every character that comes into the fray, ghosts appear and flashbacks in the form of interludes fill in the stories beneath this interweaving narrative. Jump on an alternative timeline and enjoy a splash of comedy as this murder-mystery unfolds in the world of the auto industry.
Description
The auto industry as it could have been... The year is 2020 and Detective Ben Rengale has a problem. OK, several problems. There's a murder at the second biggest automaker in the world and he's been sent there to investigate. Ben dislikes large corporations, and is very suspicious regarding how they survived the 50s and the 60s. Ben is a bit of a conspiracy fan, as well as very obnoxious, quite offensive and finds jokes during the most inappropriate times and situations. More problems: Ben thinks someone may be following him, and to investigate this murder he has to go see someone he'd rather kill than see. Actual historical characters and events blend in with models of cars that were, and could of been. Expect the unexpected as the author and the characters interact, ghosts appear and flashbacks in the form of interludes fill in the stories beneath the story. A fun read.
About the author
Ken Carman has been writing since he was five. That's right: his Kindergarten teacher asked the student to write a book, thinking students would tape pieces of hair, pictures of their puppies and parents into the small booklet they all made in class. Ken wrote an actual book. Since then, Ken has been an editor of two literary magazines, a songwriter, an entertainer who writes one-man musicals he performs for the very young. "Autocide" is his first book for adults.
