An American Life

by Larry Ballard

Depresion era childhood experiences growing up when the only person who really loved the author was his dad and at the end his dad died while he was still in his mother's selfish care.
A sad and humorous look at the author's life growing up during the depression, living in hovels, having merciless experiences one after another and learning to survive. Almost in an impossible place to gain acceptance and love, his dad shows him love as he is close to death in one of the few ways he knows how. A tremendous read on a recollection of this first time author in some of the worst times in American history and how a family survived during the depression. Seldom do readers get a look at the depression as vivid as this book tells. Some say another is in our future. Read and learn from history as only a first time author can tell it so uniquely.
About the author
Larry Ballard had a path that started in dire poverty with many obstacles before him, including parents that didn't want him. He rose through the tenacity that he learned growing up to lead a major insurance company to profitability. The author firmly believes that America's values are there to create an opportunity to succeed, but responsibility goes hand and hand with any attempt. His hope is that this will inspire others to rise above their circumstances and go for the brass ring.
