Overview

A narrative poem based on the original by Charles Dickens

Description

This is a detailed poetic version of Charles Dicken's classic that was first published by Chapman & Hall on the 19th of December 1843. The intention is to explore the lyrical language of Dickens without missing any events, characters or descriptions. The poem sticks very closely to the narrative and is a new and fascinating opportunity to enjoy the story in verse form. By using much of the Dickensian language the poem offers a unique way of looking at the tale. It enables the reader to appreciate and acknowledge the musical quality of the 1843 original. The poet's intention is not to try and improve on a classic but to offer a chance to view a beautifully written story from a new perspective.

About the author
