Overview
As a sense of obligation to record history and as a tribute to our parents, Ferman and Joyce Yearby, we have created this pictorial book, "A History in Images". Their image collection incorporates Rockport, Spencer County, plus the surrounding Indiana communities. "Joe Hargis Athletic Field" will be the first volume in a series of books that will display some of their historical images. Many changes have taken place at "Joe Hargis Athletic Field" in Rockport, Indiana, and many people have attended events there. This book displays over 1100 historical images of these changes, and people who have passed through its gates from 1950 through the 1970's as spectators, players, coaches, and performers. It will encompass various levels of baseball, football, track, marching band, homecomings, commencements, and a sesquicentennial. We hope you will find images of family and friends who lived at this time, and that "A History in Images" will give you a flavor of how life was in those days. So, sit back, put on some music from the 50's, 60's, or 70's, and remember the good ole days. Enjoy!
