About the author
My sister Marti - so smart, funny, silly, humble, a lover of love, puts family first, adores children, music, learning, reading, working out, food (cooking and eating! (oy vay!), good wine, baking bagels, friendship, art, travel, and a good book. Passionate beyond words, she brings joy and laughter wherever she goes. Shining as brightly as any star, she has always been able to share her words on paper. This is her first attempt at writing a book. Marti now resides in Bend, Oregon with her husband Steve. She is a self-proclaimed "New Yorker". Having moved extensively during her childhood, she headed to New York City following high school where she pursued her passion for the arts and ultimately found her voice in studying and performing opera. A love of adventure and travel landed her in Morocco in the early 90s which ultimately led her to a career in education as the Admissions, Communication, and Development Coordinator at the Casablanca American School. There her love for children, music, learning, and humanitarianism was allowed to shine. At the Moroccan school, she wore many hats - traveling with the students to the MAIS (Mediterranean Association of International Schools) Honor Choir competitions, engaging the students in civic duties, making the library a place where the students loved to go, and encouraging their artistic side while celebrating their successes. People to People International recruited Marti as a group leader while still in Morocco, where she traveled to several countries and continued as a group leader when returning to the states. Today she is part of the administrative team at Cascades Academy where the story of, "A Daughter's Heart" took root. -Contributed by Peggy Torr "The Younger One"
