Originally published in Portuguese, this wonderful new edition shares Xexeco's adventures with English speaking children throughout the world. The Spectacled Bear is the only bear that lives in South America. Scientists claim they are found in rainforests, mountain forests, grasslands, brushes and scrubs of western South America in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. Some have been found in eastern Panama and in northern Argentina. Their common names in local languages are ucumari, jukumar, mashiramo and sabaidakú, among others.
About the author
Ines Novelli Bojlesen is a US citizen, born in São Paulo, Brazil and raised by her multinational and multilingual family. Books were an important part of her upbringing and her main source of entertainment and learning. Ms. Bojlesen first book is titled "O Livro dos Andantes, Voantes e Nadantes", published in 1995 in São Paulo, by Editora Lisa. She was invited to read her stories to children in schools and experienced first-hand how her audience responded. She made donations of her first book to children's hospitals and orphanages. Ms. Bojlesen lives in Oregon with her husband and close to her son.
